FISMEP Project Meeting in Gothenburg: Consortium visits the HSB Living Lab at Chalmers University of Technology

Only recently, the FISMEP project partners came together in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the first joint meeting since the project’s kick-off last December. Ulrike Rahe, Professor in Industrial Design at Chalmers‘ Department of Industrial and Materials Science, hosted the meeting and gave the consortium an inside look at the activities at the HSB Living Lab, one of the test sites for the Swedish field test.

Medium-Voltage DC Grid in Aachen

For the first time, RWTH Aachen University and FEN Research Campus are implementing a local medium-voltage (MV) grid which is exclusively based on direct current (DC). This underground demonstration grid will operate as a private grid within the infrastructure of RWTH Aachen University and will distribute electric energy between several large-scale test benches. In late March 2018, the beginning of the construction was initiated with a groundbreaking ceremony at RWTH Aachen Campus Melaten.

FISMEP Kick-Off Meeting: Project Partners Come Together in Aachen

On December 13th and 14th, the FISMEP consortium came together for the first time in Aachen, Germany, to jointly discuss the recently started three-year project.

A new project is always exciting for everyone involved. Therefore, the Swedish, Romanian and German partners of the EU project “FISMEP“ were full of expectations during their first meeting at the E.ON Energy Research Center (E.ON ERC) of RWTH Aachen University.

EU Project Launch: FISMEP – FIWARE for Smart Energy Platform

Not only due to the arrival of the mainly automated “digital age“, but also given the integration of renewable and decentralized energy as well as the merging of electric and thermal domains, the energy sector has an increasing need for flexibility. The EU project “FISMEP“ (FIWARE for Smart Energy Platform) targets this need by developing a cloud-based, service-oriented open source software platform (also referred to as FIWARE technology) to facilitate an efficient, automated and sustainable energy supply for single buildings as well as municipalities.
